Verify an ID

If someone shows you an ID card from us, you can confirm it is real right here. No account, no sign-in, nothing to pay.

What a result does and does not tell you

A valid result confirms

  • The number is on file with us and has not been cancelled.
  • The animal name and type recorded against it.
  • The date the registration was made.

A valid result does not confirm

  • Any right under the Fair Housing Act, the ADA or the Air Carrier Access Act.
  • That the holder has a disability, or any clinical fact about them.
  • That any landlord, airline or business has to admit the animal.

What we deliberately do not show

The lookup returns nothing about the person. No name, no address, no email, no phone number, and nothing about anyone’s health. That is a deliberate limit, not an oversight: a public lookup that printed a stranger’s details on demand would be worse than no lookup at all. What we hold and why is set out in the privacy policy.

If you are a landlord checking a tenant

This lookup tells you a card is genuine. It does not tell you whether you are obliged to grant an accommodation, because a card never decides that. What carries weight under the Fair Housing Act is a letter from a clinician licensed in the tenant’s state. Ask to see that instead, and see the difference between the two.
