Emotional Support Animals in Colorado: Registration and Housing Rules
Emotional support animals (ESAs) are legally protected in most Colorado housing under both federal laws and state law. If you have an emotional or mental disability and your animal provides therapeutic benefits that help alleviate symptoms of that condition, your landlord generally must accommodate your ESA, even in buildings with no-pet policies. The accommodation rests on a letter from a licensed mental health professional, not on any registration or ID card.
